Experiencing vaginal dryness or painful intercourse? Rediscover comfort with MonaLisa Touch®

Patients often come to our Dallas ObGyns for help with painful intercourse. We understand that experiencing pain during intercourse is a distressing problem that can impact relationships, self-esteem and physical comfort.

In the past, the only available treatments for painful intercourse were cumbersome and messy hormone treatments that had to be used daily. Today, things have evolved with a new FDA-approved treatment called MonaLisa Touch®.

MonaLisa Touch®, an in-office laser treatment, provides relief from painful intercourse and the symptoms of atrophic vaginitis, or vaginal atrophy. The therapy does not involve hormones, discomfort or downtime.

This is not vaginal rejuvenation. MonaLisa Touch® is a medical laser treatment, not a surgical procedure, that’s used to treat a medical condition. Women are usually pleased to note that the therapy is proven effective and only requires three treatment sessions lasting five minutes each.

Vaginal changes can occur at any time, not just during menopause. MonaLisa Touch® can help.

Vaginal atrophy can occur at any age and causes symptoms such as painful intercourse; drier, thinner and more sensitive vaginal tissue; bladder urgency; and incontinence. This condition occurs when the walls of the vagina stop receiving the estrogen they need.

In many patients, a drop in estrogen occurs during menopause or after a hysterectomy. However, breastfeeding mothers and patients undergoing ovarian or breast cancer treatment can also experience a drop in estrogen and the accompanying symptoms of vaginal atrophy.
